considering maintenance costs go for the impala with that amount of miles it should last several years volvo is a great car but finding someone to service it reasonably could be a problem besides you should always buy American unless you want to support a foreign company
Go with the Volvo S70….Great car…..
Even better on the gas mileage than the 2002 Impala
Most people would take the newer car- just because it’s newer. IMHO, the Volvo would be the better buy.

I would go with the impala as I have known several people who have had good experiences with them. It is also 4 years newer than the volvo. I would however make certain that routine maintenance as been done and have which ever you choose checked by independent mechanic. With the # of miles on both cars, the price you pay the mechanic will be well worth it. good luck!
The Volvo, even though it’s older will outlast the Impala and it’s a better buy in the end
