   price it a couple of hundred dollars under book tell the person EVERYTHING that is wrong with the car and let them make a counter offer

   You can do that but you need to subtract an additional 20% for making the seller go thru the hassle of spending his money and taking his time to fix something that you didn’t.
   A car that needs repair is a red flag. It sends a signal to the potential buyer that this car was not taken care of. If the owner didn’t fix these things, what else didn’t he do. It shows a lack of ownership pride and responsibility to ignore needed repairs. Most smart car buyers will avoid a car in need of repair unless it is an incredibly low price.
   Either sell it really cheap or fix it and sell it for top dollar.

   depends on what’s wrong with it.
   if it’s not from an accident, you’re pretty likely gonna still get a good price on it.
   if it’s old, prepare to call it a “project car”!!!!
   or just do the repairs yourself.
